Did you know that Barbers were the first Physicans?
Bringing Healthcare to the Heart of the Community
Welcome to Shop Docs Detroit, where we redefine the boundaries of healthcare by bringing essential medical services right to the cornerstone of your community: your local barbershop. Gone are the days when a routine health check-up required booking appointments, missing work, or navigating through complicated healthcare systems.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple yet profoundly impactful—to provide accessible, confidential, and quality healthcare services in the relaxed, familiar setting of your community's barbershops. We aim to bridge the healthcare gap in Detroit, prioritizing preventative measures that save lives and improve the overall well-being of our neighbors.
How We Work
Every Saturday, our dedicated team of healthcare professionals visits different barbershops across Detroit, offering free, no-strings-attached health check-ups. From blood pressure measurements to heart screenings and even preliminary skin checks, we’ve got you covered. If we find something that requires further attention, we'll refer you to local physicians who can provide specialized care.
Why We Do It
We believe that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Despite the strides we've made in medical science, far too many people in our community face barriers to basic healthcare services. By situating ourselves in barbershops—a staple of Detroit’s community life—we aim to shatter these barriers. We’re not just about early detection and preventative care; we're about dignity, empowerment, and the fostering of a healthier, stronger Detroit.
Join Us
We invite you to be part of this transformative initiative. Whether you're in need of a quick check-up, a healthcare professional looking to volunteer, or someone who just wants to spread the word, there's a place for you at Shop Docs Detroit.
Your health matters, your community matters, and for us at Shop Docs Detroit, YOU matter. Come find us on your next barbershop visit and let’s take a step towards a healthier Detroit, together.
